In 1829 our founder, Fr. John McElroy, SJ, made a promise to build a contemporary Catholic high school for the students of Frederick, Maryland. He not only fostered the Catholic faith, but he promised to build educated citizens for our nation.

We keep faith with his promise, by fulfilling ours to ensure that students at Saint John's Catholic Prep have a campus that supports them in developing their minds, their bodies, and their faiths.

In 2017, we launched the “Keeping our Promises to Our Children" campaign. Thanks to the generous support of our community, we were able to raise over 2 million dollars of our 2.5 million dollar goal. With the campaign coming to a close, we still have some outstanding items and expanded needs to complete the first phase of our promise.
