Viking Parents' Organization
Mission Statement
The VPO is a social and volunteer organization. The VPO serves as a resource to the SJCP community under the direction of Head of School Will Knotek. Parent involvement is an important and beneficial part of school life. The VPO sponsors events, and offers volunteer opportunities to promote fellowship, pursue interest, and share expertise with the SJCP community. All SJCP parents/guardians are automatically members of the VPO and are welcome to attend the quarterly VPO leadership meetings.

VPO COMMITTEES
The VPO has established committees to help support the efforts of enhancing the SJCP community. The committees are open to all parents/guardians/grandparents as we are soliciting volunteers to help in any capacity. Committee members are able to participate in all or just a part of the planning and organizing, volunteering at events, or donating whether it be monetarily or providing items needed.
Committee Chair: TBD
Parents will take the lead on organizing informal adult gatherings for parents to get to know each other and strengthen our sense of community. A few examples are gathering for Alive at Five in downtown Frederick, happy hours at local restaurants or bars and possibly a couple on the SJCP campus throughout the year.
Committee Chair: TBD
Parents will support SGA planning class competitions throughout the week and preparing for Homecoming. Projects include class hallway decorating competitions, class banner competitions for the Homecoming Parade and car preparation for Homecoming Court prior to the game.
Committee Chair: TBD
Parents will provide and set up refreshments and/or play a role as a warm welcome to new visitors and current families at different events per the request of the school throughout the year. Back to School Night, Accepted Students Night, Post-Graduation refreshments, and holiday-themed and exam-week gifts for the students.
Committee Chair: TBD
In order to cover some of the costs required to provide support to the school, the VPO holds a Poinsettia and Wreath sale at Christmas.
Committee Chair: TBD
VPO will work with Marketing to formulate a plan to highlight this special week for our SJCP community. Individual days will focus on our students, faculty and staff, and parents with a special treat or activity for each. There will also be a day of service performed by our students to bring our community together.
Committee Chair: TBD
Our parents play a supportive role in the care of our campus. This team will assist with curb appeal by keeping the planters fresh and current with the seasons including fall, winter, and spring.
Committee Chair: TBD
Throughout the year VPO provides special treats and positive encouragement at various times to thank and encourage our teachers and staff. This committee will also assist in organizing Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week, providing breakfast, a luncheon for faculty and staff, and a gift/snack the other days of the week.
Committee Chair: TBD
Each Spring we hold our largest fundraising event of the year. The VPO helps facilitate donations for the silent auction, creates the silent auction baskets, gathers contributions of wine, runs our Wine Pull at the event, and helps with decorating, setup, and cleanup.
