Her senior quote was “From a little spark will burst a mighty flame” which aptly describes the petite, always smiling Sherri Bowman, or as the members of the Class of 1963 may remember her, Sherriann Gregoire.
Born and raised in Frederick, Sherri attended Saint John’s Elementary School from first through eighth grade, then went on to graduate from Saint John’s High School in 1963. Sherri was very active at Saint John’s participating in student government as a class officer, singing in the choir, working on the yearbook committee, and being a cheerleader all four years. Sherri’s favorite memories include decorating for senior prom when she was a junior, receiving her class ring, and cheering for the basketball team.
Sherri will be married for 53 years this May to her husband, David Bowman. Sherri and David own a summer cottage on the Magothy River, where she enjoys water skiing and boating. The river cottage provides a wonderful opportunity for Sherri to spend time with her family. Sherri and David have one daughter, Marisa Hombach, who is married and lives in Walkersville with her husband, Michael and three children.
Sherri’s three grandchildren are her pride and joy. Her high school cheerleading skills have come in handy as she is a self-proclaimed cheerleader and groupie for David (16), Jonathan (14), and Benjamin (14). The boys are involved in music and athletics at Walkersville High School.
When she is not spending time at the river or with her grandchildren, you can find Sherri in a Jazzercise class at the Green Valley Jazzercise Center.
In recent years, Sherri has reconnected with other local Saint John’s alumni at class reunions and banquets. While Sherri has not visited the new Saint John’s campus, she, like all our alumni, is welcome to visit and take a tour anytime.
We thank Sherri for sharing her life since graduation with us. If you would like to share your story, contact email@example.com.
