A Message from President Dr. Thomas Powell - June 3, 2020
The faculty, staff, and students of SJCP are eager to get back to school and some type of regular routine! A few weeks ago, I appointed a task force to develop plans to allow our school to re-open in a safe manner. This task force includes school leaders, faculty, staff, and some external consultants.
We all have been working diligently to plan for every scenario. As you can imagine, these plans evolve as circumstances and guidelines continue to change. In developing our plans, we will be guided by the Maryland Department of Education’s and the CDC’s guidelines for the safe re-opening of schools.
We are developing plans for 3 different options.
1. A full opening with some health modifications consistent with the new realities of COVID-19.
2. A required continuation of our online instruction.
3. A hybrid model of in-person and online components that allows us to open with reduced capacity and social distancing throughout the school. It is this option that will require the most work and adjustments for all of us and seems most likely at the present time.
