First Mass Celebrated in the Saint Teresa of Calcutta Chapel

Saint John’s Catholic Prep celebrated their first Mass of the school year and of 2021 in our new Saint Teresa of Calcutta Chapel. Students in the gold cohort were on campus attending on Zoom from their classrooms while students in the green cohort participated on Zoom from home along with many of our parents. Mass was celebrated by Father Steven Roth, the Director of Vocations for the Baltimore Diocese. We were so blessed to have a young priest visit and share a message so relatable to our lives. The theme of his homily was “Have you ever felt like God made a mistake?”. The message was that although we may feel this way, God does not make mistakes; Even when we do not understand why things happen the way they do, we have to face our discomfort and trust! Thank you to all those who helped make the celebration of Mass possible- our Director of Campus Ministry, Caroline Nelson for planning and coordinating the efforts of so many, Joe Jancuk for handling technology, Dawn Miller for organizing music, and Will Knotek and Mary Beth O’Boyle for organizing all the plans to ensure safe and sanitary practices. We are especially thankful for our student participants, including musical talent Chris Nelson and Charlie Malone, and lector Laura Neumark.
