Honors Biochemistry Students Apply Knowledge to Easter Egg Dying

Over the Easter Break, Honors Biochemistry students used what they learned about biological pigments to make natural Easter egg dyes. They used onion skins, cabbage, beets, turmeric, and tea to extract natural pigments to make a colorful array. In doing this, they learned about the interactions between eggshells and dye molecules as well as absorbance and reflectance of light by natural pigment molecules.
