Habitat for Humanity Redesign Challenge

On Wednesday, April 18, 2018, Saint John's student took part in the SJCP Redesign Challenge. Mrs. Bernadette Miller and her Interior Design class were invited to Habitat for Humanity of Frederick Co. ReStore to help celebrate its 1 year anniversary.

For the challenge, our students were divided into three teams and were given a space to create any type of room using props and furniture available at the ReStore. We put 20 minutes on the clock and students had to run around the store and collect items for their space. Then they were given an additional 20 minutes to stage the room. Each team also had to create or "restore" an item and incorporate it into their room. Each group also had a mystery item thrown into the challenge that had to be incorporated into the design.

Mr. Matthew Frace's Video Productions class filmed the entire challenge and conducted interviews as if this was a challenge on HGTV. We can't wait to see the film and find out who the winning team is!

And, our students made the news!  You can watch footage as our Interior Design and Video Productions classes go through the ReStore to design and stage the rooms.  http://www.localdvm.com/news/i-270/habitat-for-humanity-draws-on-student-help/1129064101
