Mary Beth O’Boyle, our school certified medication technician and health and wellness coordinator will continue to be your main contact regarding any health-related questions or concerns. She works in conjunction with an off-site delegating RN. Our primary goal remains focused on providing a safe environment for all who work and attend school at SJCP.
Please be sure to complete the Confidential Medical Form through Blackbaud on the parents’ portal on our school website so that we are informed of any medical conditions or pertinent medical history or medications.
If your child is exhibiting symptoms of any infectious illness and specifically symptoms consistent with Covid: cough, fever, headache, sore throat, difficulty breathing, diarrhea or vomiting, or new loss of taste or smell, PLEASE KEEP THEM AT HOME and test for Covid or have them see a healthcare professional for an alternate diagnosis.
Staying up to date on routine vaccinations is essential to prevent illness from many different infections. For Covid-19, vaccination is the leading public health strategy, per the health authorities, to prevent severe disease.
Vaccination against Covid-19 remains a family decision and is not required by SJCP.
Students who test positive for Covid-19 are asked to quarantine for at least 5 days, returning on Day 6 if symptoms have resolved and if the student has been fever free for 24 hours. Masks should be worn from Day 6 through Day 10.
Students identified as a close contact to a Covid-19 positive individual are not required to quarantine, however, testing is recommended 3-5 days after last known exposure.
At this time, the CDC no longer recommends universal contact tracing but families are encouraged to notify those individuals who may have been in close contact.
Positive cases will be reported to parents/guardians at the classroom, extracurricular or sports activity level.
We will do our best to assist any student who is absent for illness, emergencies, quarantines, etc. but it will not consist of a virtual school option.
Please do not hesitate to contact me. We believe that our best efforts to remain a healthy community will be the result of a strong partnership between your home and school. We are thankful every day for the wonderful families that make SJCP such a special place.
