Attention Seniors: Today you will be required to stay for FLEX. Mrs. Anders will be reviewing recommendation letter requests, transcripts requests and you will be receiving a copy of your unofficial high school transcript. This is an important and mandatory senior meeting.
Do you need a quiet place to do homework in the afternoon? Need help getting organized? Want to boost your study skills? Stop by the Prep Center, located in Mrs. Ryczko’s classroom, room 142. The Prep Center is open Monday-Thursday from 3:00pm – 3:45pm. NHS tutors will also be on hand as needed.
NHS tutoring will begin Monday. If you are a senior NHS member, please check the tutoring schedule outside Mr. Phillippi’s room.
If anyone needs service hours, there is a theater opportunity to be an actor or guide for the Back from the Dead Cemetery Walk at the Seton Shrine in Emmitsburg. Please see Ms. Richards for details.
Honors assembly for second semester last year: The Honors assembly for second semester last year will honor all sophomores, juniors and seniors that made honors with distinction or President’s list. Please check the lists posted outside the Counseling Office to be sure you are place on the correct list. Remember Honor Roll is based on second semester grade only.See Mrs. Petrie in the Main Office with any questions.
College application ER: Seniors, come get help on completing those pesky college applications, using Naviance and all those other items that must be completed to get accepted to college. The next session will be Wednesday, September 27 from 6 – 8 pm. Talk to Mrs. Seymour today to attend this Thursday or email her to attend September 27. Pizza will be served.
All students parking on campus: All students parking on campus, front or back, must have a parking registration form filled out and turned in to Mr. Hayes. Forms are available from outside his office near the chapel.
Dance: Any student who does not attend Saint John’s Catholic Prep must have a signed permission form to attend our dances. This form must be filled out by both schools. The form is available outside Mr. Hayes’ office near the chapel. Homecoming is October 13.
Liturgy Band: Liturgy band will be meeting during FLEX Thursday.
Attention Juniors and Seniors: Representatives from universities and colleges will begin visiting our school this week. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the schools you are interested in and to make a good impression on college reps. To receive a pass, you must log on to your family connection account in Naviance; go to the “colleges” tab, then go to “upcoming college visits” there you can sign up for a pass and check out all colleges visiting our school this fall.
Interested in these Ivy League schools?: Harvard, Princeton, University of Virginia, Wellesley, and Yale admissions officers will be at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington DC Downtown on 9th Avenue on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 07:00 PM. This is the closest these reps are coming to Frederick. If you are interested in these Ivy League schools, you must register for this event online. See the counseling bulletin board for more info.
Medications at school: If your student needs to take any medications at school from a cough drop to Epipens for allergies or asthma inhalers, you will need to have your doctor fill out the HealthLink medication at school form each school year and the asthma action plan, diabetes protocol or allergic reaction plan if your student is diabetic or needs to carry an inhaler or Epipen at school. All medications must be left in the main office (exceptions are Epipens and inhaler) and cannot be administered without proper documentation. Each medication must have a separate form. Your child's doctor must sign off on your student carrying an inhaler or Epipen and a separate action plan must accompany each order. Please contact Mrs. Petrie with any questions. The forms are available from the school website, www.saintjohnsprep.org, click on the Parents tab, click on Forms/Policies and then General Forms and Policies.
Boys’ Cross Country: Congratulations to our runners yesterday with two wins tonight over St. Vincent Pallotti and Concordia Prep. Our Vikings got edged out by Saints Peter and Paul, but will face them again in October.
Shout out to Blue Shapiro for finishing 2nd place overall and first for the team with a speedy time of 19:45. Way to go team!
