Did you sell all your original raffle tickets? Do you need more? The second round of Drive for Dough tickets can be turned in this week to Ms. Ballantyne. If you need more tickets, you can come see her throughout the week as well. Remember if you sell one ticket or many tickets, each week there is a $50 prize chosen at random. If you sell the most tickets by the end of the contest, you win $ 200, 2nd place $ 100 and 3rd place $ 50! Keep selling and be sure your name is on the tickets you turn in. Sell those tickets and help us raise money for school!
Liturgy Band: Liturgy band will be practicing in Ms. Miller’s room on Tuesday after school.
Summer 2018 European Trip: Interested in going to Europe on an educational tour? Bring a parent and come find out more about Saint John’s international travel opportunities and learn about our summer 2018 trip to Paris, Provence and Barcelona. The interest meeting will be on Wednesday, February 22 at 6:00 p.m. in Room 111. Contact Mr. Van with any questions. See you there!
School mass in the chapel: Mass will now be said on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:00pm. Please join us. All are welcome.
SJCP will be hosting an SAT/ACT Prep Course.There is a 3-day prep course prepares you for both tests! For more information, please see the counseling office for a flyer or the SJCP website.
Sylvan will be offering a FREE SAT or ACT Practice Test every month from now until the end of June. Students may take an ACT or SAT and we will score and offer an analysis of their score at no cost nor obligation! Please see attached document for more information. Students must call or email to reserve a seat. Seating is limited. The counseling office also has coupons for $100!

Service hour opportunity: In order to graduate you must have 80 hours of high school service for others. Here are 2 opportunities:
The MD Special Olympics needs lots of help with their winter Olympics for special needs kids. They need judges, score keepers, timers, slope monitors, people to work the registration tables, refreshment booths, etc. It is at Whitetail on Feb 27 and 28. All the details, dates, and times are on the Community Service bulletin board outside Mrs. Splaine’s room.
Work at Saint John’s Regional Catholic School Summer Camp and Earn Student Service Hours: Earn 3.5 hours daily. Weeks needed: June 12th-16th and June 19th – 23rd. Mandatory Pre-Service Meeting and Training will be held on Friday, June 9th, at 1:00
If you will be 14 years of age by June, you must also complete Worthy of the Call training. Spots will fill up quickly so contact Saint John’s Regional Catholic School now!

March 4th and 5th the Maryland Student Legislature will hold their Winter Session at Hood College in Frederick. Maryland Student Legislature is a simulation of Maryland State Government. MSL is driven by students. At these events, emerging leaders gather together to debate legislation we write and submit for consideration before the body. We gain real-world experience working within the legislative process to move legislation through committee and across the floor of the General Assembly. If you are interested in joining MSL stop by the counseling office for more information.
The University of Alabama had announced it’s summer early college programs for high school sophomore, junior and seniors. This program offers the ability to spend time Alabama’s campus this summer and earn college credit. For more info: please see the College Corner on SJCP’s website for their website address.
Carroll Creek Rotary has announced its scholarship competition for the Class of 2017. The deadline to apply is February 28. Please see the counseling office for an application.
The Fordham Lee Poffenbarger Scholarship program has announced its scholarship competition for the Class of 2017. The deadline to apply is April 3. For more info: see the College Corner on the SJCP website for the website.
Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants have announced their Class of 2017 essay scholarship competition. More information is available on the College Corner website under “scholarships”.
Need Community Service Hours?: There are a number of new community service opportunities on the bulletin board outside Mrs. Splaine’s room. Come check them out.
Medications at school: If your student needs to take any medications at school from a cough drop to Epipens for allergies or asthma inhalers, you will need to have your doctor fill out the HealthLink medication at school form each school year and the asthma action plan, diabetes protocol or allergic reaction plan if your student is diabetic or needs to carry an inhaler or Epipen at school. All medications must be left in the main office (exceptions are Epipens and inhaler) and cannot be administered without proper documentation. Each medication must have a separate form. Your child's doctor must sign off on your student carrying an inhaler or Epipen and a separate action plan must accompany each order. Please contact Mrs. Petrie with any questions. Boys Basketball: Home game vs. Friends and it’s SENIOR NIGHT.
JV is at 4pm and Varsity is at 5:30pm.
Girls’ Basketball: Tonight our Varsity Lady Vikings beat Glenelg Country Day School 60 to 37! Congrats to the team. This important win sends our girls to the IAAM Championship this Sunday, February 19th at 4:00pm at Stevenson University. We have a sign-up sheet in the main office for any students interested in riding the spectator bus. We need at least 20 students to sign up before the end of school today: the bus leaves SJCP on Sunday at 1:30pm and should return to campus by 7:00pm. If we can’t get 20 students to sign-up by 3:00pm today, there will be no bus for spectators.
