Athletic Hall of Fame

Saint John's Catholic Prep will hold an Annual Hall of Fame Ceremony in the fall of each school year to recognize the achievements of former Saint John's student-athletes, managers, and coaches. Click here to download a form and nominate a graduate worthy of consideration.

Mr. Bob Hoch:

SJPH Career Accomplishments:

1973-1974 – Coached Girls Softball Team

1974-1975 - Began informal soccer program on space beyond sunken gardens

1975-1977 - Helped to build the fields and coached Varsity soccer in the Blue RidgeAthletic Conference 
1973 - 1977 - Speech and History teacher at SJPH

Mrs. Caitlin (Morris) Keser:

SJPH Career Accomplishments

 2002 - Led her team to 2002 IAAM Cross Country Championship

Holds multiple records in indoor and outdoor track including:

Indoor Track:

  • 500m: 2002, 600y: 2003, 800m: 2003, 4x440y: 2001, 4x880y: 2001, 4x400m: 2003, 2004, 4x800: 2002, 2003
  • Sprint Medley: 2001, 2002
  • Distance Medley: 2001, 2002

Outdoor Track:

  • 800m: 2002, 1600m: 2002, 4x400m: 2002, 2003, 4x800m: 2001, 2002, 2003
  • Sprint Medley: 2001
  • Distance Medley: 2001.

College Career Accomplishments

2005 - 2007 she was a member of the Varsity Cross Country Team at St. Bonaventure University (Division 1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference)


Hall of Fame Class of 2014

Dave Orban - 2004 and Rachel Miller - 2006

Mr. Dave Orban:

SJPH Career Accomplishments:

2001 – As a Freshman, Dave started  on the Varsity Lacrosse Team at  Midfield and ended season with 31 points and was 2nd in points on team

2002 – Sophomore year, he started at Midfield and ended season with 48 points 27 goals and 21 assists and was 2nd in points on the team. He was selected 1st Team All  County and 2nd Team All Metro. 

2003 – During his junior year,  Dave again started at Midfield and ended the season with 61 points and was 2nd in points on the team. .  He was selected 1st Team All County and 1st Team All Metro.

 2004 – As a senior, Dave started at Attack and Midfield and ended the season with 81 points.  He was named MVP of the Lacrosse Team and led the team in points.  He ended his illustrious high school lacrosse career being selected 1st Team All County,   1st Team All Metro,    1st Team ALL MIAA “B” Conference.  and was the leading scorer for the entire MIAA “B” Conference.

Mount St. Mary’s University Accomplishments:

2004 – Dave was awarded an athletic scholarship to play lacrosse at Mount St. Mary’s University and played freshman, sophomore and junior years. He has the distinction of being the first lacrosse player in SJPH history to earn a Division 1 Lacrosse Scholarship. 

Ms. Rachel Miller:

SJPH Career Accomplishments:

Led Vikings to first winning season (2005) and to States.

Led Vikings to Conference championship and to State Championship (2006)

Recipiant: C. Markland Kelly, Jr. Athletic Service Award 2006

Towson University Accomplishments: 

Towson Tigers Softball:

First Team All-CAA 2011

   -Tigers' Single Season Stolen Base Record (23)

   -Second player in Tigers' history to reach 60 hits (62)

   - Led Tigers in Hits (62), runs scored (37), stolen bases (23), triples (5),

   -Tied for first most hits in CAA (62)

   -Tied for first in CAA for triples (5)

   - Second CAA in steals (23)

   -Third Best Batting Average CAA: .358

Two-time member of Deans' List at Seton Hall University

Madison Keller - 2005 and Tom Sherald - 1967


Madison Keller:

Saint John’s 05

  • Four years starter in soccer
  • Finished at schools all time leading scorer
  • Named first-team IAAM Outdoor All-Conference and Frederick News- Post in 2003 and 2004
  • Two-year letter winner in basketball and member of 2001 Division A Conference Championship team
  • Also Played 1 year of Lacrosse
  • Club team was 8 time Maryland State Champion

 East Carolina University Women’s Varsity Soccer (2005-2008)

  • Started all 82 games in four years (Played and started every contest for the Pirates in her career, helping backstop the squad to it first ever Conference USA regular season title in 2008
  • Named to JMU All-Tournament Team Freshmen year (2005)
  • Conference USA Regular season champions 2008-2009 season
  • Senior Year(2008):National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Southeast Region Second-Team, Soccer Buzz All-Southeast Region Third-Team, First-Team All-Conference USA, All-C-USA Tournament Team, C-USA First-Team All-Academic and NSCAA Second-Team
  • First player in program history to play professional soccer

 Washington Freedom United Soccer League (USL) W League:

  • Member of 2008 Washington Freedom W-League team that finished as Eastern Conference Champions and in 3rd place overall in the USL W-League

 Other Accomplishments

  • Graduated with Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, Magna Cum Laude 2009 from East Carolina University
  • Currently attends Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (in her third year, will graduate May 2015)

  • Co-Captain 1966/1967

  • Plus .300 Career batting avg.
  • Team overall Record of 72-20
  • Team advanced to 1972 NAIA World Series

Coaching Career

High School

  • Coached at both Thomas Johnson and Catoctin High Schools
  • Winning four district titles and finishing as state semifinalist one time
  • 1997 Frederick County Coach of the year<
  • Was on the committee that established Maryland High School Playoffs
  • Served as athletic director at Catoctin from 1993-2006
  • Coached at Mount Saint Mary’s University from 1981-1991, leading program to D1 status
  • Was named Northeast Conference Coach of the year
  • Established a school record for baseball coaching wins with 111 Wins
Other Honors
  • Co- Director of Cal Ripken Baseball School
  • Inducted into the Maryland State Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame as well as the Frederick County Athletic Hall of Fame
