On the autumn equinox, September 22, the Senior Class participated in this year’s first McElroy Day Of Service.
Arriving mid-day at the Seed of Life fields at Hargett Farm, our 80 seniors harvested by hand over 22 cases of peppers and 28 cases of tomatoes. Students also helped in basic farm maintenance before participating in a Hunger Banquet at 12:30 pm, hosted by chaperones Ms. Becca Richards, Mr. Tim Van, and Fr. Mike Kuhn. The powerful simulation shows students how great the problem of food insecurity is in America and the world.
Seed of Life is a non-profit organization that provides farm-fresh produce and vegetables to families in need.
Thanks to Seed of Life founder and CEO Farmer Mike Dickson for giving students a meaningful service experience.
