Guitar Class Treated to Guest Performance and Instruction
Posted 09/21/2017 08:08PM

On Tuesday, September 19, Mr. Ross's Guitar Class was treated to a 75 minute presentation, various performances, and guitar instruction by 77-year old Max Ochs, which was informative and inspirational.

Max Ochs recorded his first album of instrumental guitar on Takoma Records in 1967. This was accomplished through his friendship with the founder of Takoma Records, John Fahey – guitarist from Takoma Park, MD.

Celebrating his 50th anniversary of these first recordings, Max met with students to present his music and the music of an earlier generation, including that of his mentor and friend Mississippi John Hurt (1892-1966). Max and his wife Suzie live in Severna Park and have frequently visited and performed at Saint John's.
