New Campus Building Project Q & A

Q:

A:
What is the estimated time-frame for construction to begin and an anticipated move-in date?

We are now able to move forward with the final stages of the financing. Our goal is to begin construction/renovations in spring 2012 and the new campus ready for occupancy in fall 2012-2013.

Q:

A:
What will happen to the Prospect Hall property?

With the recent removal of the institutional floating zone the property is now zoned R12. Consequently, an offer has now been made for its purchase.  The mansion is on the Historic Registry and will remain intact. The Prospect Hall property will be sold.

Q:

A:
How are we doing with the Capital Campaign?

The Capital Campaign has raised approximately $2,200,000 in cash and pledges.  Another $1,160,000 has been donated in the form of in-kind contributions.

Q:

A:
Other than having a new home will Saint John’s change in any other ways?

The school’s Board of Director’s and their advisors worked tirelessly and diligently on the long-range strategic plan that identified the need for a new physical plant which could not be fully realized at the Prospect Hall property. Other than a new home, the school is committed to honoring its Catholic traditions.

Q:

A:
How many students will the new campus accommodate?

Enrollment can reach 500 students. We remain committed to our mission statement and to fostering a supportive student centered school culture while preserving our family and community identity. We will also continue with small classes for our students and low student - teacher ratio.

Q:

A:
How can you help?

Other than continuing your financial support, we ask that you please remember Saint John’s in your prayers.

SJCP Recieves First Endowed Scholarship for Legacy Campaign
Saint John’s Catholic Prep is very pleased to announce the Horning Brothers Scholarship for African American Students. This is the first scholarship received for the Legacy Campaign’s Endowed Scholarship Fund.  The corpus of the $50,000 scholarship will have the ability to grow until 2014, when the first awards will be available for distribution. Scholarships like the Horning Brothers Scholarship are consistent with the mission of Saint John’s, as well as a wonderful addition to the school’s scholarship funds made available to an important student constituency.

Horning Brothers is a real estate development firm located in Washington, D.C.  Mr. Joseph Horning, Chairman of Horning Brothers, has served in an advisory capacity to numerous public, private, and parochial educational institutions and holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Mount St. Mary’s College.

Saint John’s is currently conducting The Legacy Campaign to raise $7 million dollars. Six million is being used toward the school building and grounds and $1 million is earmarked for an endowment fund. To date, The Legacy Campaign has raised $2,197,465 in cash gifts and pledges.
