Mission Statement
Saint John’s Catholic Prep Library supports student research, the faculty and the curriculum of the school. The primary objective of the library program is to support, implement, enrich and vitalize the entire educational program. The staff adheres to the concept of an integrated library program involving a combination of resources including people, materials, equipment, facilities, and processes to accomplish the school’s purposes.
Policies
Individual students may use the library with a signed teacher’s pass or during lunch periods. Students are not allowed to have food or drink in the library. Students must have an Acceptable Use Policy signed by both the student and his/her parent to use online resources. All school rules must be adhered to in the library.
Collection
The library contains a variety of print and non-print resources including subscriptions to several academic databases to provide SJCP students with access to newspapers, magazines, scholarly journals as well as significant reference resources to support SJCP curriculum from the campus or from home (see SJCP Databases). The library catalog is networked and may be searched from any campus desktop. Library books are available to be checked out for three week periods.
Research Services
Customized research assistance is available for individuals as well as for whole classes both in person and online (see Moodle Training) including assistance in accurate MLA style for bibliographic citations (see Citing Sources).
