Counseling

The goal of Saint John’s personal counseling program is to encourage students to develop into a successful, well-adjusted, and compassionate person.

In the freshmen year, we focus on such things as: social and academic adjustment, friendships, peer pressures and making responsible choices. During their sophomore year, topics covered include: increased academic expectations, time management, and strategies for taking standardized tests. Students also begin to explore career choices.

Even though students are placed in classes which are within their scope of success, sometimes there is the need for assistance. Various support methods are available, such as: tutoring, academic progress sheets, Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences, study skills, initialed assignment book, and referral to outside testing/evaluation.

While Saint John’s does not have a formal Learning Disability program, we will provide reasonable accommodations for students with current documentation.
