Parents and students: This is a reminder that Monday is a teacher in-service early dismissal at 1 pm.
National Honor Sociaty: There will be a mandatory NHS meeting Tuesday of next week for current members in the Sophomore and Junior classes.
Lunch charges: There will be no more lunch charges this year. All lunch charges must be paid as soon as possible. You may not be allowed to sit for your exams if your lunch charges are not cleared.
Advanced Placement Testing: All students taking AP tests here or at the Mount St. Mary’s satellite campus should plan to arrive 15 minutes before the start of their exams. Doors close at 8 am sharp and no student will be admitted late. Bring at least 2 #2 pencils. AP Biology is here on campus on Monday at 8am.
Student Ambassadors: Anyone interested in becoming a Student Ambassador for the 2008-2009 school year should see Mr. Schultz in the Admissions Office to pick up an application. All applications are due with signatures by Thursday, May 15th.
Interact Club: Interact is now sponsoring the Baby Bottle Drive! We need everyone's help to bring in baby clothes, diapers, and formula for these underprivileged mothers and babies. Please drop off your donations in your class' box in the library by Friday!
Gently used clean uniform sale: The Saint Johns Parent Teacher Organization will be having a gently used uniform sale here on campus on Saturday, June 14 from 10am – 12 noon. Simply fill out the uniform inventory sheet which can be found on the school website under “For Parents” and follow the instructions for drop off with Mrs. Petrie. We will be accepting only clean Campus Outfitters or Land’s End green polos, khaki pants, and school blazers in good condition. The PTO will host the sale so you do not have to be there and we will hold all money and unsold items for until Thursday, June 19 for pickup at the school office. This sale will limited by what items families bring to sell. Please help us make this sale a success. Any questions, please email Mrs. Petrie at LPetrie@saintjohnsprep.org.
Bingo: The following student’s families are scheduled for bingo duty Saturday, May 10, 2008: Aaron and Megan Middeke, Conlan, Korin and Luis Pierce, Victoria Pugh, Lucas Reuling, Theresa Rimel, Madeline Ruppert, MC Vignola and Grace Turner.
Please plan to arrive by 5:30 pm to help with the bingo. If your schedule does not allow you to attend Saturday, please switch dates with another family. We thank you for your help and cooperation with this fund raising activity which directly benefits your children, SJCP and you. Juniors: Juniors interested in the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corp (NROTC) or Nurse Corp should apply at www.nrotc.navy.mil. Applications are currently being accepted. Units are located at over 150 of the nations’ leading colleges and benefits include free college tuition, 100% employment upon graduation, and $250-400 a month in tax-free spending money.
Senior boys: This is very important. You are required by law to register with the Selective Service within 30 days of you 18th birthday. Failure to do so could result in a fine of $250,000 or 5 years in prison. Please see Ms. Seymour if you need help or the website address.
Sophomores and Juniors – Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn and Stanford will be hosting a information night at the Hyatt Regency in Bethesda – this is as close as these schools get to us. The information night is for both parents and students and will be held on Monday, May 12 at 7:30 pm. For a flyer, please see Ms. Seymour.
Summer Jobs: The Counseling office now has information on lifeguard training and lifeguard summer jobs. If you’re interested in spending your summer pool side see Mrs. Seymour for more information
Attention Juniors: Penn State will be holding a information session at the Hampton Inn in Frederick on May 13 from 7-9pm. To register for the event please stop by the counseling office’s bulletin board to get the website address.
Sports:
Boys’ Lacrosse: The boys will play the last regular home season game against Mt. Carmel here at 4 pm. Come out and cheer those seniors in their last high school game and help lift them to victory going into the playoffs. Go Vikings!
